KIDS CAN COUNSELING FOR CHILDREN, TEENS & FAMILIES
Providing compassionate, individualized counseling to help children and teens manage emotions, build coping skills, and thrive at home, at school, and in their relationships
WELCOME TO KIDS CAN
At Kids Can Therapy, our licensed counselors help children and teens work through emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges in a supportive, developmentally appropriate environment.
We provide counseling for concerns such as anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, ADHD-related challenges, OCD, trauma, low self-esteem, behavioral difficulties, school stress, friendship problems, grief, and family transitions.
Because children do not always have the words to explain what they are feeling, counseling may include conversation, creative activities, play-based strategies, expressive arts, mindfulness, and practical skill-building. Our counselors tailor treatment to each child’s age, personality, strengths, needs, and goals.
Families are an important part of the process. We work with parents and caregivers to understand what is happening across home, school, and other settings; identify meaningful goals; and develop strategies that support progress beyond the therapy room.
We look forward to helping your child feel understood, build confidence, and develop healthier ways to manage life’s challenges.

HOW COUNSELING MAY HELP
Counseling goals are individualized, but therapy may help a child or teen:
- Understand and communicate thoughts, feelings, and needs
- Develop practical coping and calming strategies
- Recognize connections among thoughts, emotions, and behavior
- Build confidence, resilience, and a healthier sense of self
- Manage worry, frustration, anger, sadness, and stress
- Improve problem-solving, flexibility, and decision-making
- Strengthen family communication and relationships
- Use new skills more successfully at home, at school, and with peers
A FAMILY-CENTERED APPROACH
Counseling begins with an evaluation of the child’s needs, history, strengths, current challenges, and treatment goals. Depending on the child’s age and clinical needs, the initial meeting may involve parents or caregivers, the child, or both.
Ongoing treatment may include individual sessions with the child or teen, periodic parent meetings, family sessions, and coordination with other members of the child’s care team when appropriate and authorized. Parents receive practical guidance so they can reinforce skills, recognize progress, and respond more effectively to challenges outside the therapy room.
OUR COUNSELING APPROACHES
Our counselors draw from evidence-informed and developmentally appropriate approaches based on each child’s needs. These may include cognitive-behavioral strategies, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, dialectical-behavioral skills, mindfulness, attachment-based interventions, expressive arts, sand tray activities, family therapy, and play-based techniques.
Treatment is not one-size-fits-all. The counselor will select and adapt strategies based on the child’s developmental level, communication style, goals, family circumstances, and response to treatment.
